State of the Story

Okay, so any of you who have been following me for any amount of time know that I’m basically the worst about updating my website. This is my pitiful attempt to get better.

I’ve had a lot of people reach out asking questions about the next and, as it happens, final book in The Seven Virtues, A Sellsword’s Hope, as well as when A Sellsword’s Valor will launch in audio format. Luckily for us both, Gabriel, my one year old son, has decided to take his yearly nap, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to let everyone know what’s going on in the (cue theme music) state of the story.

First of all, A Sellsword’s Hope, the final book in The Seven Virtues series, is slated to launch early in June. I had hoped to get it out by the end of this month but, then, I’d also hoped Gabriel would sleep through the night for the last fifteen months. Neither has happened, but hey? We play the cards we’re dealt…right?

As for the audio version of A Sellsword’s Valor, my rep with Podium Publishing informed me recently that it will launch on July 9th, with the fifth book, A Sellsword’s Will, coming sometime in September (exact date to be announced). So, if you’re waiting on your next great listen, hopefully A Sellsword’s Valor will keep you entertained until it comes out 😉

Now, I’m also really excited to let you all know that I’ve been working on another project, a prequel novella to The Nightfall Wars. After I finish The Seven Virtues, I’ll be moving on to that series, so if you haven’t tried out The Son of the Morning yet, why not give it a go? The prequel novella doesn’t have a name yet (aside from the admittedly rude ones I’ve given it during the course of the draft) but I’m really excited about this one. It explores the lives of Torrik, Alesh’s father, and his mother, giving the reader (and the writer, in case it matters) a deeper look into Alesh’s parents and how he came to be stranded on that deserted road in the middle of the night as well as the origin of the nightling scar on his shoulder. So…yeah. Good stuff.

That’s about all for now–A Sellsword’s Hope is going through the final round of edits, while the prequel novella is being sent to the ever-lovely and forgiving beta readers. Seriously, it’s amazing how many ways you people find to point out my often terrible mistakes (more than one character has, from chapter to chapter, managed to acquire the ability to teleport and be in two places at once) without calling me names that I more than likely deserve. But, don’t worry, your hard work hasn’t gone unnoticed! Aside from that, soon, I’ll be starting work on book two in The Nightfall Wars.

Oh, and this is my sincere promise to you that I will maybe almost certainly try to at least think about being better about updating the website.

As always, thank you for your support–without readers, writers are just people that stare at computer screens (often with blank Word documents open) for half of every day. Also, we starve.

In all seriousness, your support and your emails mean the world to me, and I thank all of you who have reached out–I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating–I might create these worlds, but you’re the one that makes them breathe.

And if you haven’t reached out, well, I can’t promise that I’m interesting, but I can promise that I’ll answer. Just send an email to JacobPeppersauthor@gmail.com, and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Which, as any new parent knows, means as soon as my son gets bored with trying to eat dog food or takes a break from throwing things off the table.

Happy Reading and until next time,

Jacob Peppers
