Writers make the best excuses

Welcome back, fantasy lovers!

I apologize for not posting in a little while, guys and gals.  Would you believe that my house was robbed and the only thing they took was my computer, that I’ve spent  the last several weeks on a Liam Neeson like hunt, interrogating guys with thick accents and no redeeming qualities whatsoever?  No?  Fine … how about that I was saving a puppy dog from a runaway horse cart and risked my own personal well being to dive in front of the cart and snatch the puppy–I’ve named him Fiction–out of harm’s way at the last possible instant and that, in doing so, managed to get all of my fingers (and thumbs too) ran over in the process, leading to a slight delay in blog and writing output?  Still no?  Right.  Probably should have went with car instead of horse cart.  Alright, okay.  You got me.  The truth is  I’ve been at work on the final revisions for my novel, A Sellsword’s Compassion, book one of the Seven Virtues series.

That said, I have some good news.  The revisions are now complete!  Which means it’s time for me to have a beer, maybe more than one, and then finish my edits on the novella.  I believe it was Hemingway that said  to write drunk and edit sober, but what did he know? … Right?

Anyway, I’m also now in the middle of choosing my final cover design, and I’m excited to say that I’ll be sharing the final design with you guys soon.  The Seven Virtues itself is set to come out early next month along with the stand alone novella to give people a better insight into Aaron, the protagonist, and the world in which he lives.

In the mean time, while you all are no doubt rubbing your hands together in greedy anticipation of the book (or was that a dream I had?) I think I might have just the thing to keep those fantasy appetites of yours satisfied and forestall the rebellion that inevitably follows should they go hungry.

One of the things I’m always the most curious about regarding the authors I love is what they read.  After all, these are men and women who create worlds in which I am always more than ready to lose myself in, protagonists that I love rooting for and antagonists that I love hating.  It’s a sort of who cuts the barber’s hair question, isn’t it?  Well, for what it’s worth, I’ll tell you that one of the books I’ve been spending my time reading lately is Child of the Flames: A Sword and Sorcery Saga the first book in the Seven Signs series by D.W Hawkins.  The author, D.W Hawkins, is a friend of mine and has been an invaluable resource during my own self publishing journey.

As always, feel free to drop me a line!  I’d love to hear from you.  To be the first to hear about the release of A Sellsword’s Compassion, book one of the Seven Virtues, as well as other upcoming titles, sign up for my mailing list below.
